Signage Playlist - Shared Content

Currently, the “Nested Installations” is in special access. Contact Ombori if you want to try the nested installations feature asap. We will release the feature in the marketplace on 2021-08-13.

General Concept

Ombori Signage Playlist built the shared content through nested installations.

Example use-case

In the example image below, we see 4 Signage Playlist installations:

  1. Parent Playlist - This is where ideally you add your devices. This can contain unlimited number of nested installations, media, or gridapps

    • As you can see, there is a new Item type named “INSTALLATION

    • You can pick “INSTALLATION” type item and select a Signage Playlist installation available in your organization.

    • A Signage Playlist installation contains a limited list of media, gridapps, or installations, that are played in loop. For nested installations, once all items in the list is completely played or shown, it will send a trigger event to the Parent Playlist Signage to play the next item in the parent items list.

    • Next Item Trigger

      • for Signage Playlist nested installation, select “INSTALLATION TRIGGER”. Signage Playlist app contains a logic that sends events to parent installation to trigger the parent’s next playlist item.

      • for other installations, choose duration, and specify how long you want the installation content will be shown on the device' screen.

  2. Shared Playlist 1 - In this example, this is one of the shared content playlist. You can add common media and contents in it, like country specific videos, images, and more

  3. Shared Playlist 2 - This is also one of the shared content playlist. You can add common media and contents in it, like country specific videos, images, and more

  4. Shared Playlist 3 - This is also one of the shared content playlist. You can add common media and contents in it, like country specific videos, images, and more

Limitations

  1. Right now, you should only nest installations by 1 level, especially for RPI4. The reason is that video playback currently degrades more as the nesting level becomes deeper. We are currently improving and working with Igalia to reach the peak of Video Playback in RPI4.
